At the Grand Palais, the Belgian designer swapped quiet luxury for bold colour and showed a stretchy new take on the Chanel suit.

A year after his debut, Matthieu Blazy returned to the Grand Palais in Paris on Monday 5 October to show his spring/summer 2027 collection for Chanel. "It's a good start," the Belgian designer said afterwards, according to The Guardian.
By most measures, the start has been more than good. The Guardian points out that Chanel currently sits at the top of the Lyst index of the world's hottest brands, and that figures reported by Bloomberg showed 16% growth in the first half of 2026.
The show
The set was a flock of 95 giant white birds suspended from the Grand Palais' glass-and-steel roof. Nicole Kidman, who was in the front row with Dua Lipa, Pedro Pascal and Alexa Demie, read a passage from Virginia Woolf's To the Lighthouse for the soundtrack. WWD counted 83 looks.
The clothes
The Guardian's main takeaway was colour. After years of muted "quiet luxury", the collection used bright, playful combinations, such as a red and white embroidered jacket with a jade and turquoise skirt. The house's two-tone pumps came in zebra stripes and yellow polka dots. One model opened and closed the show carrying Gabrielle Chanel's own 2.55 bag.
The classic soft-shouldered suit was worn with nothing underneath. Its newest versions were built on a smocked fabric over an elasticated base, which Blazy described as his answer to what "sporty" could mean at Chanel.
Why it matters
The skirt suit is one of this autumn's key shapes (see the new suit). A stretchier, easier version from the house that made the suit famous suggests tailoring will keep its momentum into next year, with comfort and colour now part of the story.
